In 1986, Joseph E. Verdú launched a small company dedicated to the commercialization of office accessories material. Today, in the year of its 30th anniversary, Charmex is a reference in the field of professional audiovisual products and equipment for environmental control. We talked with him to learn the path that has led him here.
What are the origins of Charmex?
now thirty years ago I started working on selling novel for the office sector and climate products. I speak, for example, office accessories, overhead transparencies, whiteboards, etc. and air filters enclosed space without ventilation and air dehumidifiers for any environment, which marketed through the channel through distributors. Gradually we grew, which allowed us to open two years later a delegation in Madrid.
And the change came with a trip to Asia ...

It was in 1990 when, in one of the trips that realized to attend fairs in Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, decided to introduce interesting new features like filters for computer monitors, which improved the user's view in the Spanish market, and projectors data and video that were initiated at the time.
That change was a turning point and the birth of a new business line that gradually oriented toward the audiovisual field.

Today we are leaders in the world of projection and maintain a great relationship with partners who are world leaders, most of whom have exclusivity. We also have a strong presence in markets such as digital signage with professional monitors managed with software itself, the education with interactive whiteboards and touch monitors that optimize learning, corporate rooms with videoconferencing and complete audiovisual equipment museum with control systems that integrate all devices, or events with LEDs, professional projection and large format screens. And always, as the first day, respecting the channel and providing technological innovations that meet all needs. In addition, we have created products under own brands that allow us to enter in some international markets.
In 2010 to enhance our presence in the center of Spain and, after searching several alternatives, we decided to build the Building Green Building , located in Getafe. It is a building that collects ecosostenible very well the essence of the philosophy of the company innovative level. Awarded the Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) prize.
What are the future challenges of Charmex International?
The intention is to maintain our policy of only distributing innovative products and brands offering customer service quality. In fact, it has always been our will offer global solutions rather than isolated products, and I think the success of the company is based, largely, on that strategy.
Moreover, the company is in the throes of generational change in the figures of my children, especially Santiago, who already acts as CEO since 2006. They will be responsible for continuing the process of diversification of the company in different lines of business, and expansion through internationalization in Latin America and other European countries.
