Barcelona, March 20, 2018.- Charmex , B2B reference provider of the audiovisual sector, is pleased to announce that it has been the supplier of the audiovisual equipment of the new building of the Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute. The auditorium of this new construction, located in Badalona (Barcelona), has been equipped with Christie laser phosphor projectors, Pandora Box servers, Crestron control solutions, Gefen matrices and L-Acoustics, DPA, Yamaha and Shure sound systems.

It is a building of more than 10,000 square meters with capacity to accommodate about 350 researchers, created in 2010 to enhance biomedical research and personalized medicine in the field of leukemia. Semic has been the company awarded the project, while AVLAB has carried out the engineering and construction management and Charmex has been the supplier of the audiovisual equipment.

The auditorium of this new center, with capacity for almost 200 people, is a multipurpose space that is used for events, presentations, concerts, etc. A custom-made 6.80 x 4.25 meter screen has been installed here, where it is projected in blending with two Christie DWU599-GS laser phosphor units.

The DWU599-GS are 1DLP technology projectors, WUXGA resolution (1920x1200) and 6,065 ISO lumens, with 20,000 hours of maintenance-free operation and BoldColor technology for superior color performance.

"These laser phosphor projectors were chosen because they have higher performance and less maintenance than lamp equipment," says Marc Marquès Borrell, technical director of AVLAB. "They are machines that have lower consumption and waiting time, and operate at a lower temperature, with higher resolution and brightness," he adds.

To manage the projections, Charmex has supplied the Christie Pandoras Box Dual Player media server, as well as Christie Pandoras Box Manager for synchronization and remote control. "Pandoras Box is a system that provides high performance in the design, management and processing of video content," explains Marc Marquès Borrell.

Charmex has also provided a Christie LWU502 projector (3LCD technology, 5,000 lumens, WUXGA resolution) as a mobile device to support when the audience is at full capacity. "It is a compact and portable equipment, ideal for use in projections at events and events in the hall of the building," says Marquès Borrell.

But, in addition, the center wanted to put special emphasis on having a high quality sound system in its auditorium. For this, L-Acoustics loudspeakers and power stages have been installed; headset, piano and voice microphones for DPA concert; Yamaha RI8 Dante sound and rack; wireless and desktop microphones, receivers and antennas from Shure; and Martin lights and control lights.

For central control, the Crestron CP3 system has been installed, which allows the integral management of all connected systems (AV, lighting, IT, energy management, etc.). Also from Crestron, the auditorium has been equipped with luminaire control, audio matrix and touchpanel. In addition, the room has been equipped with a video matrix from Gefen, which can be used to route eight Ultra HD sources, and HDMI Ultra HD extenders from the same manufacturer.

For Manel Martínez, Charmex project consultant, the auditorium of the Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute can now boast of being at the forefront of audiovisual technology: "The truth is that the room has been equipped with the most advanced projection , control and video processing, and with impeccable acoustics. We are proud to have participated in this project that has been integrated with expertise by the AVLAB team with the support and support of Charmex. "
